NOTIFICATION OF EVENT CANCELLATION  (22 March 2020)

Due to the current situation with the Covid-19 virus we have taken the decision to cancel this year’s Devil o’ the Highlands race, due to take place on the 8th August 2020. Although this cancellation doesn’t follow current official guidelines for events taking place later in the year, we feel it is the responsible thing to do.

In addition to the reasons we gave when we cancelled our sister race the Highland Fling ten days ago, we now want to do as much as we can to reduce the number of runners travelling to the area around both race routes for training purposes in the coming weeks and months.

The Scottish Government’s latest advice is that only essential travel should be undertaken.

Travelling to an area for a training run absolutely does not constitute essential travel.

We hope that everyone will understand our decision. These are not normal times, and we feel strongly that everything we can do to limit runners’ non-essential travel and contact with other people will reduce the spread of the Covid-19 virus and thereby save lives.

We would like to thank you in advance for your patience. At this point, the only expenses incurred are online booking and banking transaction fees, so we will be providing a 90% refund. We hope to have all refunds issued within the next two weeks. No deferrals are available. Please bear with us while we sort everything out.

Please contact us by email if you have any queries: team@devilothehighlandsfootrace.co.uk
Please be aware that we anticipate a very high volume of emails over the next few days and replying to everyone may take us slightly longer than normal. We will prioritise enquiries from overseas runners.

The Devil o’ the Highlands will hopefully return in 2021. All entrants affected by this cancellation will be guaranteed an entry for the next edition of the event.

The event is LGBT friendly. We are also QIA+ friendly. You can enter our race as female, male or nonbinary. If you are transgender, we are happy for you to enter and run in the gender category you identify with. Event changing, showers and toilets will be available for all genders. We are fully committed to upholding all principles of the Scottish LGBT Sports Charter.

The event strives to be as inclusive as possible and the organisers have a zero tolerance policy to any form of discrimination. We are not fond of Donald Trump.
